Equine Interactive Ltd. is a Horse-facilitated learning organisation. We offer equine therapy, personal development and literacy education using horses to facilitate kinaesthetic learning. All learning sessions with the horses are conducted on the ground, using activities and interactions that do not necessarily involve conventional horsemanship techniques. We do not teach horse riding or horsemanship in our sessions.

EAGALA Model
Mental Health Therapy with Horses. We use the EAGALA model to deliver mental health counselling to clients. Our team brings together a mental health professional, equine specialist and the horses. We deliver mental health therapy through a client-driven solution-oriented process. If you feel that horses may help you to address trauma or other emotional issues that are affecting your wellbeing, you are welcome to contact us through the link button or on our contact page. We will refer you to our mental health professional who will then apply for funding on your behalf. While horses are great supporters and teachers in dealing with post traumatic stress, this type of therapy is not necessarily everyone's "cup of tea". 
Horse Powered Reading
This programme is based on the programme researched and created by Michele Pickel, Associate Professor at Concordia University, St Paul, Minnesota. The activities conducted during Horse Powered Reading sessions integrate social emotional learning with academics. We primarily offer this programme to Home Educators in North Taranaki, but any parent or caregiver who is available for doing sessions with their child is welcome to enquire. We run a basic program to learn the letters of the alphabet for totally new learners. HPR Alphabet series consists of 6 sessions lasting 1 hour, twice a week for three weeks. The aim of this programme is to teach the learner to recognize letters by their names and the sound that they make. Cost: $90 HPR Level 1 teaches learners to string up to three letters together to make a word. Depending on the progress of the learner, we may push to four letters and words with two or more syllables. We only use single letter sounds and this course is aimed at words only and not sentences. The course not only teaches children to work out the sound of the letters but to also find objects that match the word they have read. So we intregrate vocabulary and comprehension into this course. This is an 8 week course comprising 16 sessions, of which 8 are arena sessions and 8 are classroom sessions. Classroom work is done through activities and games outside of the arena and not necessarily with the horses. Each arena session with the horses is accompanied by a classroom session that brings the learning from the horse environment into the every day environment of the learner. HPR Level 2 is an 8 week course similarly structured to Level 1, It introduces CVC words, digraphs and more complex words and the mechanics of stringing words together into sentences. HPR 8 week courses are priced at $400. All Horse Powered Reading programmes are privately funded by parents. Coach with Horses (Life Coaching Programmes)
Personal Development Programme This is a 12 session package of personal development tools and strategies aimed at individual empowerment. This programme is designed to take the client from where they are now, to where they want to be in the future. The programme is client-driven and solution oriented towards discovering what is keeping them back and how to overcome their internal blocks and build techniques to face challenges with confidence. This unique programme combines conventional life coaching techniques with equine facilitated learning. Each week builds on the previous session tailoring the process to client's needs. We address the somatic and emotional components of behaviour and use this learning to understand our habitual responses and behaviour patterns. We develop skills to generate new empowering approaches to life. Whether you wish to bring your leadership skills to the next level or just get back on your feet after a tough time, our horses can help you to be on track.
